Live Oak County authorities searching for person involved in standoff

Law enforcement source said person in home had hostage


LIVE OAK COUNTY, Texas – A standoff in Live Oak County has ended without a suspect in custody.

A standoff started after a caller reported shots fired in a house off Interstate 37, near the Three Rivers exit.

When Live Oak County deputies got to the house, someone inside reportedly fired shots at them.

One law enforcement source said the person inside had a hostage.

Deputies backed off and called for backup. More Live Oak County forces and Department of Public Safety troopers responded.

According to reports from the scene, law enforcement officers then hit the house with tear gas and went in, but the person inside the house had apparently escaped through a hole in the floor.

There is no word on who the person is or if they found a hostage, but law enforcement officers in the area are now searching for the individual.
