Witness helps track down hit-and-run driver

Pedestrian hit, taken to hospital

SAN ANTONIO – A description from a witness helped San Antonio police track down the driver who hit a pedestrian early Saturday morning. 

According to police, around 2 a.m., a man was walking down Highway 151 near the 10800 block of Town Center Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle.

A witness told police the driver left the scene in a white Chevrolet van, came back, then drove away again.

The witness was able to obtain part of the license plate number and also told police the van was missing its right side mirror.

Police located the driver nearly a half of a mile from the scene near Sevona Route. He was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid.

The victim was taken to University hospital in critical condition.
