The crash was reported around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, when police said Villegas over corrected after the car she was driving struck a curb. The report said the car slid sideways into the opposite lane of traffic and rolled in a grassy area after it went over a curb.

One of Villegas's passengers, 28-year-old Jermaine Sutton, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, the report said.

A second passenger, Orlando De La Garza, faces a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication.

The report said Villegas and De La Garza were both wearing paper bracelets "as if they were coming from a club."

De La Garza was uninjured, according to the report.
