SAN ANTONIO – A 39-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter following an accident that claimed the life of her 11-year-old daughter.
The crash occurred just after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
According to police, Julie Marie Siler was driving a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix attempting to make a left-hand turn from northbound Wetmore Road onto the access road of Wurzbach Parkway when she failed to yield the right of way to a Dodge Dakota that was headed southbound Wetmore.
Siler's daughter, Charity, was inside the car on the passenger's side at the time of the crash and was killed on impact, police said. Charity was a student at Garner Middle School, an NEISD spokesperson confirmed.
Police said Julie Siler suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was found to be intoxicated at the scene. She has since been taken into custody.
Siler's bond is set at $50,000.
