SAN ANTONIO – A junior at Judson High School was hit and killed by a train Wednesday morning in northeast Bexar County.
Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokesman James Keith said the 16-year-old boy was walking along some railroad tracks in the 7900 block of Gibbs Sprawl Road around 11:30 a.m., when he was hit by the train.
The boy died at the scene.
Keith said they will talk with school officials to determine why the student wasn't in class at the time of the fatality.
Counselors are on standby for any students or teachers who knew the victim, school district spokesman Steve Linscomb said. Sheriff's deputies are investigating.
