Incident began just after 1 a.m. near Kyle Street, SW Military Dr

BEXAR COUNTY – The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said a driver led deputies on a chase before being thrown from the vehicle in a crash Thursday morning.

The incident began just after 1 a.m. near Kyle Street and SW Military Drive when a deputy tried to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation.

Deputies said the driver was eastbound on Military Drive and was going up to 110 miles an hour before losing control just after passing Zarzamora.

The vehicle ended up going across the center median and hit a light pole with a concrete bottom, deputies said.

Deputies said both the driver and a passenger inside the vehicle were thrown from the car.

The driver sustained head injuries and the passenger had multiple injuries as a result of the crash. Both were taken to University Hospital, where the passenger is said to be in critical condition.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
