Hundreds of families given turkey, trimmings to enjoy during holidays

Soldiers' Angels awarded $10,000 from Bank of America Charitable Foundation

SAN ANTONIO – Two hundred families, including 75 military and veteran families, were given a turkey with all the trimmings to enjoy this holiday season.

Bank of America, Communities in Schools San Antonio, Soldiers’ Angels and the San Antonio Food Bank partnered to provide meals for families for the 31st consecutive year.

The president of the food bank said part of creating good holiday memories includes sitting around a table, enjoying a good meal with family.

“For so many families, they lack the basic ingredients to pull them to the table. Through Bank of America’s partnership, we’re ensuring that everybody has the right food this holiday season to have those kinds of memories. It’s more than just nourishing their bodies. It’s nourishing their minds and their spirits and, honestly, giving them hope,” said Eric Cooper, president and CEO of the San Antonio Food Bank.

Soldiers’ Angels was also awarded a $10,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation for its work helping military men and women, veterans and their families.
