Thousands of presents set to be hand-delivered by firefighters next week

Community donated to toy drive

SAN ANTONIO – Thousands of presents are set to be delivered to children in San Antonio next week. A giant wrapping party was held to get those gifts prepped.

Hundreds of volunteers became little elves, cutting, taping and wrapping the gifts donated to Santa’s Firefighter Toy Drive.

Everything from books and stuffed animals to Hot Wheels and Star Wars figures will be given to children this year. Fire officials said they have the community of San Antonio to thank for that.

“We’d like to thank the community for their support this year. A lot of our collection days, we had horrible weather and heavy rain, and we still collected a large amount of toys, so thank you San Antonio,” said Woody Woodward, public relations manager for the San Antonio Fire Department.

Firefighters will hand-deliver the gifts to nearly 2,000 children by the end of next week.
