Woman hurt after shooting then involved in two crashes en route to hospital

Victim in critical condition

SAN ANTONIO – A woman is in the hospital after she was shot then involved in two crashes on the way to the hospital Saturday night.

According to San Antonio police, the woman and her boyfriend went to the corner of Interstate 35 and Weidner to pick up the man's cousin. When the cousin got inside the car, someone started shooting at the car, said police.

The 18-year-old woman was struck near her spine, said police. Her boyfriend started driving her to a hospital. He took the exit ramp on Loop 410 toward Starcrest Drive where he ran a red light and crashed into another car, police said.

The driver of the car he hit drove away from the scene. Police said that's when the boyfriend crashed into another car that was stopped at the intersection. The cousin, police said, ran away from the crash site as well.

The woman was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.

When police searched the vehicle, they did not find any bullet holes on the vehicle.

Police are investigating.
