1 person hospitalized after house fire on far West Side

SAFD: Smoking in bed caused fire

SAN ANTONIO – Crews extinguished a house fire on the far West Side that landed one person in the hospital.

Fire crews were called out to the 5900 block of Hidden Rose about 4 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, flames were going through the roof of the home.

A woman was rescued through a window and was taken to University Hospital for smoke inhalation and possibly a few minor burns.

The San Antonio Fire Department said smoking in bed caused the fire. 

The home is a total loss, and the home next door suffered some heat damage.
