SAN ANTONIO – Police are investigating why a man was walking on a railroad track on San Antonio’s Northeast Side before he was hit and killed by a train.
The accident occurred near Interstate 35 and Eisenhauer Road just after noon.

The conductor told police he saw the man, tried to slow the train and honked the horn, but the man did not react.
The train was not able to stop before hitting the man. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
The identity of the man killed was not released pending notification of next of kin.
