Food pantry receives surplus supplies from San Antonio Food Bank

Organizations feed about 100 families a month with food pantry

SAN ANTONIO – A food pantry on the West Side got a big year-end gift from the San Antonio Food Bank.

Last Chance Ministries and Eagles Flight Advocacy and Outreach join forces throughout the year to help feed people in the community. The organizations said they feed about 100 families a month now.

Recently, the food bank offered them some of the year’s surplus food.

“It’s amazing that there’s a surplus. Our community has been so generous. San Antonio has exceeded what they were wanting in their drive for food,” said Pamela Allen, executive director of Eagles Flight Advocacy and Outreach.

Allen said the food bank’s donation comes at a great time. The need is greater during the holiday season when children are home for the winter break.
