Man found critically injured on street on city's West Side

Police unsure if victim was shot or stabbed

SAN ANTONIO – Police are investigating after a man in his early twenties was found with life-threatening injuries on the West Side.

The man, found by a relative in the 600 block of North San Jacinto Street, suffered injuries to his head just steps away from an elementary school in the neighborhood.

Police were not sure if the man had been shot or hit in the head with a sharp object, but the crime caused many people living in the neighborhood to watch the investigation Monday afternoon.

"It's pretty quiet around here," resident Daniela Garcia said. "There's really not a lot of things that go on. There's a lot of activity that goes on around the store, but that's about it."

Investigators believe an argument between the victim and two others earlier in the day in the 900 block of Leal Street resulted in the altercation.

The victim was taken to University Hospital for treatment.
