Metro Health may not be able to determine cause of food poising at SAHA gala

66 people become sick after eating food at Golden Gala

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District said Tuesday that it might never be able to determine what caused dozens of San Antonio Housing Authority residents to get sick at the Golden Gala.

Metro Health has interviewed 110 people who attended the event last month. Of those, 66 people became sick after eating food served at the Golden Gala.

The event is held each year and is attended by the Housing Authority’s elderly and disabled residents.

About 900 people attended the event at the Freeman Coliseum.

Metro Health officials suspect that a toxin in the food could be the cause of the illness.

Diehard Catering was responsible for the food. Below is Metro Health's latest report on Diehard Catering.
