Bexar County Family Justice Center relocates downtown

Center helps domestic violence victims, families

SAN ANTONIO – The grand opening of the Bexar County Family Justice Center's new downtown location was announced Thursday by District Attorney Nico LaHood.

The center, which helps victims of domestic violence and their families by providing them with resources and free services, has been relocated to East Nueva Street.

Bexar County commissioners approved the relocation in August. Commissioners said the new site, just across from the Bexar County Courthouse, will allow victims and their families to receive assistance more efficiently.

"So that proximity helps us to service clients better," LaHood said. "(It) also raises morale, as employees, because now they feel like they are a part of the complex, a part of the family. It's just an overall good move."

The center has given almost 4,000 victims and their families free, life-changing support and services since 2005. There are only two centers of its kind in the state.
