Man killed, left on southwest SA road

Sabas Arellano, 22, murdered in 1988

SAN ANTONIO – The death of a man left on a Southwest Side road nearly 20 years ago remains a mystery for San Antonio police.

SAPD investigators know where Sabas Arellano had been on the night of Jan. 11, 1998 and where his life ended.

It's what happened to him between those two places and who is responsible that they have not been able to determine.

Arellano, 22, went to Taurino Night Club at Ruiz Street and North Zarzamora.

Witnesses said he was in his car with a young woman and a young man.

His body was later found in the 10000 block of Quintana Road -- about 20 miles away. Police said he had been shot several times. A photo of Arellano was not available.

Arellano's wife found his car, a 1979 gold Pontiac, later at a pharmacy at North Main and San Pedro avenues.

His death is still being investigated by SAPD's Cold Case Squad. If you have any information, call 210-207-7635.
