Woman found dead inside Windcrest home during welfare check

Susan Clark, 62, found dead in home

WINDCREST, Texas – A woman in her 60s was found dead Wednesday morning during a welfare check, Windcrest police said.

The medical examiner identified the victim as Susan Clark, 62.

The police chief said officers also found a man inside the home on Willmon Way and believe he is responsible for Clark’s death.

“This neighborhood is really very quiet,” Concha Garces said. “We don’t usually have any problems like that."

Neighbors said Clark lived at the home with her son.

This is a rare occurrence, very rare occurrence for the city of Windcrest,” police Chief Al Ballew said. “This is a very unique community, we pride ourselves on a very low crime rate here, but this wasn't a random act it was someone who was related and there's no danger to the residents or safety to the community that type of thing."

Police have not released the name of the man arrested.
