2nd arrest made in SW Side murder

Ignacio Jimenez, Jr., facing murder charge

SAN ANTONIO – Ignacio Jimenez, Jr., 52, is the second person to be arrested in the murder of a man whose body was found on a Southwest Side road last August.

San Antonio police began investigating the case after the body of Roland Pantoja, 34, turned up in the 10000 block of Quintana Road Aug. 30. Police said he had been stabbed to death.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit a witness told police that Jimenez and a second man, David Ortiz, 30, had attacked Pantoja in revenge.

The affidavit said that the pair accused Pantoja of running over Jimenez with his truck. Pantoja said that it was an accident, the affidavit said.

The witness told police Ortiz attacked Pantoja while he was sitting in a car, first hitting him with a gun then stabbing him. He said Jimenez also stabbed him after he was on the ground outside the car.

The affidavit said that the witness admitted that he got rid of that car leaving it in Dimmit County.

Police originally asked for help in locating Ortiz, Jimenez and a third suspect, Robert Casarez, 32. The affidavit said they believe Casarez helped the other suspects dump Pantoja's body.

Ortiz was taken into custody last Thursday. Police are still looking for Casarez. All three men face a charge of murder.
