SAN ANTONIO – A South Side intersection was closed briefly Friday morning due to an investigation into a suspicious package left at a bus stop near Poplar and Zarzamora Street.
The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and VIA Transit Police were called to the scene around 9 a.m.
San Antonio Police Department spokesman Officer Doug Greene said the suspicious package turned out to be a satchel full of clothing. A VIA supervisor first spotted the package on top of a bus stop shelter and called it in.
Police said VIA Transit Police brought in their own dogs before calling in SAPD.
Several streets were blocked off for a time forcing traffic to be diverted.The streets have since reopened.
