University Health System celebrates 100 years of providing care to community

SAN ANTONIO – The University Health System is celebrating 100 years of providing care to the community. On Thursday evening, it kicked off a yearlong centennial celebration with a special ceremony at the Robert B. Green Campus.

Original patient registries, medical bags and an old ambulance were on display during the event. The Robert B. Green Memorial Hospital opened its doors on Feb. 2, 2017.

“The vision of those folks 100 years ago who had the foresight to develop this, and we’re carrying on tradition and the importance of following that tradition so we could turn something that’s just good to great,” said George B. Hernandez Jr., president and CEO of University Health System.

Today, the University Health System includes University Hospital, a network of more than 20 primary care, specialty and school-based health centers and two mobile clinics.
