Woman's SUV hit by gunfire in North Side 'road rage' shooting, police say

Driver not injured by gunfire

SAN ANTONIO – An apparent road rage shooting Tuesday morning on the city's North Side left a woman rattled and another driver on the run, police said.

Shortly after the incident was reported around 8 a.m., and after officers at the scene finished checking several incorrect locations, they located the victim at a gas station at Wetmore and Ridge Country roads.

The woman's black Ford Escape appeared to have been hit twice by gunfire on the rear passenger side. Police said the driver was not injured.

Officers at the scene said the shooting was a "road rage incident," but they didn't offer details about what led to it.

Police said the woman was able to offer only a vague description of the shooter, a man in a maroon-colored car.

Officers said they were sent to several locations, including Highway 281 at Bitters Road and Jones-Maltsberger Road.

After talking to the victim, they determined that the shooting happened on Wurzbach Parkway near Nacogdoches Road.
