Police: Security guard falls asleep, plows into North Side home

Truck barreled into empty bedroom

SAN ANTONIO – A security guard hired to patrol a North Side neighborhood appears to have fallen asleep at the wheel before he plowed into a home, San Antonio police said.

The truck went through an outside wall and landed in a front bedroom of the home in the 700 block of Slate Rock. Police said fortunately, no one was sleeping in that room at the time.

Two people who were in other parts of the house and were not hurt. The driver also was uninjured.

Police said the driver was on duty as a security guard in the Hidden Forest subdivision when he apparently fell asleep.

The crash left the home with a big hole in its front wall. Hours later, the area was covered with a plastic tarp.

Officers at the scene did not say whether they planned to issue any citations to the driver or pursue any criminal charges against him.
