KIRBY, Texas – A garage fire quickly spread to a home in Kirby Thursday afternoon, causing extensive damage.

Fire crews were called out to the home on Bay Meadows Drive around noon. The homeowner said he was working on his motorcycle, went inside and when he returned the bike was on fire.

The man called 911 but the fire quickly spread and damaged half the home.  When crews arrived they were hindered by what was inside the garage.

“It was a challenge because there was so much clutter in the garage,” Carlos Alfaro, Kirby Fire Chief said. “It was hard to gain access to the attic through the structure.”

Both the man and his daughter were able to escape without any injuries.
