Stinson Airport turns into movie theater

Movies are free to watch

SAN ANTONIO – Stinson Municipal Airport will host a slab cinema movie every Friday, through April 7.

The movies are family friendly and free of charge.

“Red Tails,” the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, will start at 7 p.m. Friday. The movie is about 13 black cadets who were chosen to be part of an experimental program during World War II.

“Top Gun” will be shown at 8 p.m. March 17. Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer team up as Maverick and Iceman in this iconic movie about two fighter pilots attending the Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School.

“Memphis Belle” will start at 8 p.m. March 31. The movie tells the story of the B-17 bomber known as the Memphis Belle as it heads into German territory during World War II.

“Amelia,” starring Hilary Swank, will be shown at 8 p.m April 7. The film is based on the true story of Amelia Earhart, who disappeared in 1937 during her quest to become the first woman to circumnavigate the globe.

Big Bib BBQ restaurant will provide food during the movies and concessions will be available for purchase.

Movies will be shown at the Stinson Terminal at 8535 Mission Road. In case of inclement weather, the movies will be shown in the terminal.
