Wrong-way crash sends 2 sisters to hospital

Crash shuts down part of Hwy 90 Sunday morning

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said two women were taken to the hospital after the vehicle they were in was hit by a wrong-way driver.

According to police, a driver was traveling south in the north bound lanes of Loop 1604. The driver continued going the wrong way, traveling east in the westbound lanes after turning onto Highway 90, police said.

Police said the driver crashed head-on with another car. Two women, 23 and 29, were inside the vehicle the driver hit. Police said they were sisters. They were both taken to University Hospital. One woman is in critical condition. The other woman is expected to recover.

The driver was also taken to University Hospital for mandatory blood-alcohol testing. 

The crash shut down the main lanes of Highway 90 West for about six hours Sunday morning.
