Man shot by Guadalupe County Sheriff's deputy near Marion

GCSO says man pointed rifle at deputies

MARION, Texas – An investigation is underway after a Guadalupe County sheriff’s deputy shot a man Sunday.

The shooting occurred near the small town of Marion, just outside of Seguin.

Deputies were initially called to the home in the 1000 block of Marion Road for a domestic dispute between a husband and wife.

Sheriff Arnold Zwicke said the man was threatening himself with a rifle and then pointed it at deputies.

The man was hit once in the chest and airlifted to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he was undergoing surgery as of 8:30 p.m.

"It was a short period where he was there with the gun, they were trying to talk him out of the gun. He had been going through some issues, is what I've been told," Zwicke said.

The names of the the man or deputy have not been released.
