Clerk shoots man outside East Side convenience store

Man shot on New Braunfels Avenue

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said an argument between a store clerk and a man at an East Side convenience store late Saturday night  ended with a man shot.

The store clerk told police that he told the man to leave after they started arguing inside the store in the 1500 block of New Braunfels Avenue around 11 p.m.

When the man exited the store, the clerk went outside to see if he had left, police said. The clerk told police he saw the man reach for his waist band. The clerk then pulled out his own weapon and fired a shot to the man's stomach, police said.

The man was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.
