North Side restaurant owner shot during struggle with robber

Victim was hit in thigh at Tokyo Steak House on San Pedro Avenue

SAN ANTONIO – The owner of a North Side restaurant was shot during a robbery, police said.

The victim was with a woman when a man with a gun approached them and tried to rob them shortly after 12 a.m. Thursday behind Tokyo Steak House in the 9400 block of San Pedro Avenue, police said.

The victims are the owners of the restaurant, police said.

According to officers at the scene, a struggle ensued and the robber's gun went off, wounding the restaurant owner in his thigh. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said.

The gunman ran away, police said.

A police helicopter and K-9 unit searched for the gunman. About two hours after the robbery, police found him at an apartment complex down the street at San Pedro and Lorene Avenue.

The 19-year-old man was arrested on charges that included aggravated robbery and evading arrest, police said.
