SAN ANTONIO – A man was wounded when another man shot him in the leg while walking down an East Side street firing in the air and at vehicles, police said.
Police said witnesses reported seeing a man in his 20s walking east in the 100 block of Ferris and shooting in the air and at vehicles about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The 55-year-old victim was standing outside in his yard with his family when the shooter aimed his weapon at him and shot him in the leg. San Antonio police Lt. Dave Berrigan said it was "totally random" that the shooter picked that man.
The shooter then continued down the street as if nothing had happened and kept firing in the air and at vehicles, police said.
Berrigan said two vehicles were hit and 10 shell casings were found.
The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening and he was taken to the San Antonio Military Medical Center for treatment.
Police believe they know who the shooter is. They searched for him using K-9s and the department's helicopter.
Authorities have not released the shooter's name.
