Man beaten, shot on city West Side, police say

SAN ANTONIO – Police are trying to figure out why a man was shot and beaten by his friends on the city’s West Side.

Authorities said the attack took place after the man, who is in his 20s, was picked up by some of his friends. The group drove him to his home in the 1000 block of Hortencia Avenue just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

The man’s friends pulled him out of the car and beat him up. Police said someone then shot the man in the leg.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and was last listed in serious condition. Police are still looking for the attackers.
