Friends, family gather to remember loved one shot, killed on South Side

SAN ANTONIO – Family and friends gathered to remember a man who was shot and killed Friday on the South Side.

Jesus Moron, 21, was killed on San Casimiro near Roosevelt Avenue.

Friends said Moron, whose nickname was Beanzo, graduated from Southside High School two years ago. He played football and soccer, ran track and even went to state competitions for powerlifting.

“Everyone should know that my brother was not a bad person. He was a great guy. We just lost a great brother for the whole community,” said Luis Diaz, Moron’s brother.

Alex Nerio, 21, was arrested and charged with killing Moron. Moron’s family said the two men got into a fight that escalated into deadly gunfire.

Police said Nerio shot Moron in the back. Moron later died at the San Antonio Military Medical Center.
