Man caused $62K in damage to ATM while trying to break into it, police say

Marquis Covington, 19, charged with criminal mischief

SAN ANTONIO – Marquis Covington, 19, could have to pay for damage to a bank machine with his freedom.

Covington was arrested Monday on a charge of criminal mischief for allegedly causing more than $62,000 to the ATM while trying to break into it on March 14.

San Antonio police said the owner of the ATM, Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union, was able to provide them with video of the suspect.

Investigators compared that to a photo which they already had of Covington, and they now believe he is responsible for causing the damage, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
