Family wants answers a year after son died in fatal crash during pursuit with deputies

SAN ANTONIO – It has been nearly a year since Anna and Frank Ramirez walked along the 13700 block of O’Connor Road. A year ago on Thursday, their 17-year-old son, Agustin Villa, died when he lost control of his truck on O’Connor Road after a 22-minute pursuit by Bexar County deputies.

“(It's) surreal,” Frank Ramirez said.

“I've been an emotional wreck,” Anna Ramirez said. “His life was barely starting. He had a daughter. She's about to be two.”

A deputy originally tried to pull Villa over for speeding in the 7900 block of Crestway just before 9 a.m. that morning.

Near the end of the chase, a Department of Public Safety helicopter was called in to help deputies slow their pursuit on the road.

“According to Bexar County, they were told to back off,” Frank Ramirez said.

Villa’s parents said they’ve reached out to the detective on the case numerous times but have never received a call back.

“It's so hard, so hard, especially not having any answers to why or what happened exactly," Anna Ramirez said.

“I really want answers. And I'm hoping for them, because without them, we're clueless,” said Xavier De Cesare, a friend of Villa’s.

The parents are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact them at 210-993-0608.

KSAT reached out to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, but it did not provide any updates on the investigation.
