Re-enactment of Passion of the Christ performed downtown

Decades-old tradition in downtown San Antonio began with prayer service

SAN ANTONIO – The annual re-enactment of the Passion of the Christ took place Friday morning.

The decades-old tradition in downtown San Antonio began with a prayer service at Milam Park. Then, the play made its way to San Fernando Cathedral.

In the performance, which is supposed to be realistic, the actor playing Jesus carries a wooden cross after he's been condemned to death by crucifixion, is "nailed" to it, and then taken down.
