Police: A total of 7 businesses hit in possible weekend robbery spree

Victims all gave similar descriptions of robbers, police say

SAN ANTONIO – Two businesses which were hit by robbers early Monday morning appear to be part of a weekend crime spree, according to San Antonio police.

They said, in all, seven businesses -- most on the Northeast Side -- were targeted by criminals between Saturday morning and Monday morning.

The two latest cases involved pizza delivery chains.

Employees called police to a Papa John’s in the 7900 block of Fredericksburg Road around 1:30 a.m. Monday.  They said they were preparing to leave when a man dressed in black and armed with a gun forced them to the back of the building.

The workers said the suspect stole cash and cell phones before running away.

Police said the staff at a Domino’s Pizza had an encounter about an hour prior with a man matching the same description.

The robber, also dressed in black and wearing a black hoodie, ran away with cash too, police said.

Officers at the scene said he appeared to be part of a group responsible for five other robberies this past weekend.

Police also responded to EZ Mart in the 14800 block of Toepperwein Road; Dairy Queen in the 9700 block of Perrin Beitel Road; as well as Papa John’s, Taco Cabana and Whataburger all on or near Nacogdoches Road.

Anyone with information about any of the robberies is asked to call San Antonio’s Crime Stoppers at (210) 224-STOP (7867).
