2 dead in shooting on SW Side, man arrested

Shooting reported just before midnight in 3600 block of Nogalitos Street

SAN ANTONIO – Two people were killed and a suspect was arrested in a gunfight late Monday night on the city's Southwest Side.

According to a preliminary police report, three people went to an apartment just before midnight in the 3600 block of Nogalitos Street to talk with a man over some speakers.

An argument ensued and gunfire erupted, police said.

When officers arrived, they found Christopher Vidales, 30, performing CPR on 19-year-old Oscar Huerta, who was sitting in the front seat of a red Ford Mustang, the report said. Huerta was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man, 49-year-old Peter Rodarte, was shot several times and was found on the ground nearby. He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Vidales was arrested and charged with murder. He was being held in the Bexar County Jail on $125,000 bail.

Police are looking for another man who fled the scene on foot, the report said.
