SAN ANTONIO – A Highlands High School student was arrested Wednesday for having a gun on campus, officials said.

The gun wasn't loaded and the student didn't have any ammunition in his possession, San Antonio Independent School District spokeswoman Leslie Price said.

The student, who is facing expulsion, was arrested around 3 p.m. by school district police.

Price said the student didn't have any intention of harm and students were never in danger.

The student was taken to the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center.
