SAPD on scene of hostage situation

Suspect believed to be armed, according to authorities

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are on the scene of a hostage situation in the 1400 block of Babcock. 

Sergeant Jesse Salame said a man showed up at the apartment complex around 2:30 a.m.

He confronted his ex-girlfriend who was there with friends, SAPD said. 

Witnesses told police the man assaulted the woman, left, then came back with a gun. The suspect ran the friends out of the apartment. 

Police say the ex-girlfriend is being held hostage. 

SAPD, SWAT, and negotiators said they are doing everything possible to resolve the situation safely.
