Bulverde, Classen Road Project completed

Project addresses flood control, traffic congestion

SAN ANTONIO – City officials on Tuesday celebrated the completion of the Bulverde and Classen Road project.

The project resolved issues with flooding in the area and traffic congestion.

Improvements included two lanes of traffic in each direction of Bulverde and Classen roads south of Loop 1604; a 10-foot multiuse path for pedestrians and bikes; traffic signals; and no overhead electric on the street, for parkway experience.

"This is a huge effort by the city and the contractors to get this accomplished," San Antonio District 10 Councilman Mike Gallagher said. "It was a part of the 2012 bond, and we needed to have it done. (There) was flooding in the area and there were traffic jams in the area. This has helped solve those problems."

The project was managed by the city's Transportation & Capital Improvements department.
