Deputies Pat Divers, Antonio Alvarez given the Life Saving Award

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office honored two deputies Wednesday for their quick thinking during crucial moments.

Deputies Pat Divers and Antonio Alvarez were give the Life Saving Award for their response after Deputy Art Garcia was struck by a truck on his monitor unit in March.

The rescuing deputies applied a tourniquet to Garcia’s leg to slow the bleeding and saved his life.

“This came out of the blue. It was a complete surprise. Seeing the way my department came together for me, my two fellow officers, they came to my aid — to my rescue and saved my life,” Garcia said.

Garcia said Divers and Alvarez have his eternal gratitude. He said they have a brother for life.
