Big Give SA kicks off at midnight

Goal to raise $6 million in 24 hours

SAN ANTONIO – The countdown is on for the annual big give.

Nonprofits gathered at Yanaguana Garden Wednesday for a Big Give SA pep rally, hours before the event kicks off.

People also worked to finish final preparations for the day of giving.

The Big Give is a day of online donations to local nonprofits that connects people with a cause.

Last year, organizations raised a little over $4 million, but the event was plagued by technical problems.

This year, organizers have raised the bar and are hoping to raise $6 million.

"You can go online give to the organizations that you care about. Find new organizations that you've never heard about before (and) donate to them as well,” partner for Big Give SA, John Burnam said. “All of that shows us what we can do together as a community when we come together in 24-hours and give."

The event takes starts at midnight.
