Firearm found in San Antonio parole office

State launches investigation into how gun got into office

SAN ANTONIO – A firearm was found this week in a San Antonio parole facility, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice confirmed Thursday.

Staff members at the San Antonio Metro Parole Complex, in the 2900 block of Northeast Loop 410, recovered the weapon Wednesday in an interview room.

State officials are trying to determine how the firearm got into the building.

A TDCJ spokesperson declined to say whether the weapon was loaded.

The TDCJ's Office of the Inspector General has launched an investigation into the incident, according to the spokesperson.
