People gather at City Hall for National Day of Prayer

SAN ANTONIO – Many people gathered Thursday afternoon on the front steps of City Hall in honor of National Day of Prayer.

The act of Congress was signed into law in 1952 by President Harry Truman. It calls on all Americans to pray for the prosperity of our nation for the sake of its people so they can live safe and healthy lives.

“The Lord says you have not because you ask not, and so we need to come together as a nation and ask for revival. Ask for healing. Ask for his spirit to move with us again and among us,” said Roger Hepworth, with Ark International Church.

In 1988, President Ronald Reagan established the day to be every year on the first Thursday of May.
