Man steals $34,000 worth of copper from his employers, police say

SAN ANTONIO – A man has been arrested, accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of copper from two his jobs and then selling it, San Antonio police said.

Investigators said Mario Villalobos was being monitored after he began selling large amounts of copper at a local metal recycler.

Police said by the time Villalobos was arrested, he had sold roughly $34,000 worth of copper.

Surveillance video shows Villalobos stealing the metal from his employers, two different heating and air conditioning companies, police said.

Investigators said that during interviews Villalobos admitted to the theft, saying he was not being paid adequately for his work.
