SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio City Council on Thursday approved a master plan for the redevelopment of Alamo Plaza.

The plan includes several key aspects, including permanently shutting down traffic at Alamo Plaza from Houston Street to Market Street, and on Crockett Street from Losoya to Bonham.

The cenotaph in front of the Alamo will be relocated and restored, and a visitors center and new Alamo Museum will be created.

Certain elements of the proposed redesign, including the glass wall enclosure around the plaza, were not part of Thursday’s council approval.
