3 children killed in Houston-area house fire

3 family members, 2 officers hospitalized in Montgomery County house fire

CONROE, Texas – Three children were killed Friday after a fire broke out at a Montgomery County home, authorities said.

The fire broke out just after 4 a.m. at a two-story home in the 19000 block of Johnson Road.

Firefighters received reports that people were trapped in the house, said Jimmy Williams with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

The three children, who were initially reported missing, range in age from 3 to 11 years old, Williams said.

Officials said a 10-year-old boy suffered burns and was taken to a hospital. He is listed in critical condition.

The boys father was also burned and taken to a Houston hospital. His is also listed in critical condition. 

The child's grandfather was also taken to a hospital in critical condition. His injuries were not immediately known.

The grandmother suffered cuts and was taken to Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands.

The fire, which spread to two other homes, cause the house to collapse, Williams said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
