Father, son safely escape train crash

Train hits car near South Trinity Street, Satillo

SAN ANTONIO – A man and his 8-year-old son escaped serious injury Thursday night after a train hit their car on the city's near West Side.

The man told police that he wasn't familiar with the area and drove onto some railroad tracks, thinking it was a road.

The driver and his son were able to get out of the pickup before it was hit by a train around 10 p.m. near South Trinity Street and Satillo.

No injuries were reported.
