SAN ANTONIO – A homeowner fatally shot an intruder Friday afternoon on the city's Northeast Side, police said.

The shooting was reported around 2:00 p.m. in the 6300 block of Aspen Farm.

Police said a man in his 30s drove to the home and left his 7-year-old son in the car.

The man tried to break into the home through a bedroom window, when a woman who was asleep in the room heard a noise, grabbed a gun and opened fire twice.

The intruder was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he died.

The boy was not hurt, police said.

The woman was taken downtown for question. At this time no charges have been filed, but that could change pending the outcome of the investigation.
