Man injured by sword during fight at North Side apartment

Incident occurred in 6200 block of Via La Cantera

SAN ANTONIO – A man was taken to the hospital after being cut by a sword during a fight overnight, San Antonio police said Monday.

The incident occurred in the 6200 block of Via La Cantera.

Police said the resident of the apartment had invited a couple back to his home after a night of drinking at a bar at the Shops at La Cantera.

At some point during the night the male visitor got jealous and accused the resident of flirting with his girlfriend and that's when, police said, the visitor started a fight.

The resident said he didn't want to fight and picked up a sword before telling the other guy to back off, police said.

The visitor threw a punch before the resident swung the sword cutting the other guy on his hand.

The group tried to bandage him up but he passed out outside the apartment, police said.

EMS took the injured man to an area hospital.

Police said they are still investigating. A this time, they do not know if the sword swinger will face charges.
