16-year-old girl shot on far NW Side

Shooting was reported in 7400 block of Weybridge

SAN ANTONIO – A 16-year-old girl is in critical condition after being shot in the chest overnight, San Antonio police said Tuesday.

The shooting was reported around midnight in the 7400 block of Weybridge, found not too far from Terra Oak and Shaenfield Road on the city's far Northwest Side.

Police said several teenagers were inside a vehicle near an alley when one of the boys possessing a gun told two girls to get out of the car. That's when, police said, the girls walking away were fired upon by one of the teenagers from inside the vehicle.

Police said the girl was shot in the chest but the other managed to call for help when the shooter's gun jammed.

So far no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
